Susan

Elliot Geller

Board President

Board President Elliot is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Certified Group Psychotherapist; he has worked in a community mental health center, private psychological treatment center, an independent, local hospice program, and in private practice over the past thirty-three years. Presently, Elliot enjoys a diverse private practice and leads men's therapy groups weekly. He assists patients with chronic degenerative disease, terminal illness, trauma, complicated bereavement, marital discord, and other life transitions.

 

Catherine

Catherine Beckett, LCSW, PhD

Membership and Communication Chair

Catherine has provided counseling services with a specialization in grief and loss since 1994, in a variety of settings including schools, community mental health agencies, addiction treatment centers, hospitals, and both adult and pediatric hospice. She has designed and taught workshops and courses for helping professionals at institutions including St. Mary’s College, U.C. Berkeley, the University of Portland and Portland State University. She maintains a private clinical and consulting practice in Portland, OR, and teaches clinical courses for the PhD in Counseling program at Oregon State University. Her doctoral research focused on grief styles and therapist bias in grief counseling.


Gail Lewis, RN, CHPN

Treasurer

Gail currently serves as a hospice case manager meeting patients and families where they are on their end of life journey. She currently serves on several committees related to hospice and team life including Volunteer Support (instruction and event planning), MEAD (Mission Employee Activity and Diversity), Care Commitment (team building), Education Communication Committee. Along with all of this, she is also a nurse preceptor for senior nurses from Walla Walla University.


Jennifer

Jennifer Wohl, MA, LPC

Internet Services Manager

Jennifer is a Licensed Professional Counselor in private practice with a specialization in grief counseling. Before moving to Portland in 2011, she was a grief counselor with Hospice of Santa Barbara in Santa Barbara, California. For several years, Jennifer has run a bereavement group called The Art of Grief in which participants use writing, collage, drawing, and other expressive arts to move mindfully and creatively through the grieving process.


Jessica

Jessica Thomas, PhD, LMFT

Education Chair

Jessica is a therapist, clinical supervisor and organizational consultant that specializes in death, dying and grief at her private practice Reflective Therapy & Consulting LLC. She is a hospice volunteer at Serenity Hospice in Portland and an adjunct professor at Lewis and Clark College where she teaches on death, loss and psycho-spiritual crises. Her doctoral research Mindful Photography and its Implications in End-of-life Caregiving: An Art-based Phenomenology focused on creative expression and the experience of anticipatory loss. Jessica utilizes mindful photography as a spiritual practice and in therapy groups with those experiencing grief and loss. She is currently looking forward to publications, facilitating workshops, and travel.

 


Dore

Robert Poe, Psy.D

Secretary

Robert is a psychologist in private practice in Northwest Portland. He works with individuals and couples and also perform psychological evaluations for patients having bariatric surgery. His specialty is helping individuals and couples with relationship issues. Other areas of interest include treating anxiety, depression, and grief and loss.

Robert has a Masters in Clinical Psychology from Washburn University and a doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Forest institute of Professional Psychology. He enjoys reading, the outdoors, hiking, mountain biking and traveling.
